Akbakai gold-bearing deposit was discovered in 1969 in Zhambyl region. The gold mill was opened on July 4, 2011.

In 1992, Almaty circus school was named after Zhusipbek Yelebekov.

In 1996, President of China Jiang Zemin paid his first official visit to Kazakhstan. The Presidents signed the Joint Declaration to promote political dialogues and hold bilateral consultations.

The East Kashagan oil deposit was solemnly unveiled on the Caspian shelf in 2000.

The monument honoring Kazakh musician, composer, dombra player, author of kyuis Kyrmangazy opened in 2000 in Atyrau.

In 2012, the monument to the great people's composer and musician, Kurmangazy, unveiled in Astana in 2012.
