In 1992, the Palace of Sport named after the 50th anniversary of October in Almaty was named after well-known Kazakh batyr, poet, singer and composer Baluan Sholak.

A book penned by Kazakh writer and lawyer Amirkhan Bakiruly dedicated to Mustafa Shokai was released by a Turkish publishing house in 2006.

In 2014, ballet dancers of Astana Opera Aigerim Beketayeva and Yerkin Rakhmatollayev were invited to give two gala concerts at La Scala in Milan.

In 2015, Russia's President Vladimir Putin presented first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky in recognition of his merits in developing Kazakhstan-Russia multifaceted cooperation and his active contribution to bilateral interaction in promoting integration processes.

The same day, TURKSOY Youth Chamber Choir won gold at the Musica Sacra event at the 2nd European Choir Games. The young chamber choir consists of students and graduates of conservatories in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Tatarstan (the Russian Federation).

Rio Paralympics champion Zulfiya Gabidullina from Kazakhstan set a new world record in 200m freestyle race at the Internationale Deutsche Meisterschaften in 2017, which is a part of the new Para-Swimming World Series in Berlin.

Kazakhstani student Assel Serikbai won the Asian Chess Championship in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka in 2018. The tournament brought together 400 chess players from 17 countries.
